Basically, there are two types of solar power plants namely Photovoltaic plant and Solar Thermal power plant. In Photovoltaic plants, the semiconductors in photovoltaic cell exhibit photoelectric effect thereby generate electricity, while the steam produced by the heat-transfer fluid is used to drive turbines in case of Solar thermal plants.
